Black
Soap has many names, such as African Black Soap, Duchi, Anago Soap and
Alata Soap. Alata Samina and Anago Samina are Ghanaian terms used in reference
to Black Soap. Black Soap originated in West Africa, but more specifically
in Central Ghana. While others have tried to create Black Soap, Ghana’s
Black Soap is the best in quality because it is the original Black Soap
and thus, hold the uncompromising integrity of the original recipe. Ghana’s
Black Soap has many uses; Black Soap has been known to alleviate the symptoms
of acne, oily skin and blemishes, while making skin beautiful and soft.
Black Soap is also good for bathing, washing hair and removing make-up.
Overall, Black Soap is great for leaving the skin supple, clear and smelling
pleasant.
The term black soap as it is seen
in Ghanaian culture is somewhat of a misnomer. The traditional form of
this all natural vegetable soap is not actually the midnight hue that
has been popularized in the U. S. It is more of a dark brown, sometimes
even beige in color. Black Soap is soft and organic in shape. Black Soap
should have an earthy smell and be neither oily nor perfumed.
