Haba na haba hujaza kibaba (Kiswahili Proverb)
All is accomplished in a process, little by little.
Baba is the word for father in the Bantu based language of Kiswahili spoken
by about 50 million African people. As you know we are always honoring
Africa and African people from which we obtain most of our products. But
the name Baba has grown a new meaning here in the United States and has
become a fundamental component of the culture in some of our more progressive
schools. Here, all men are affectionately referred to as Baba or Father,
even if they do not have biological children.
This is somewhat of a charge to men, a reminder if you may, that you are
all fathers within our society. Your paternal character does not end at
your own home; but rather, it is reflected throughout the entire community.
Thus, our children and families are a reflection of you and your leadership.
An old African proverb states, "To whom much is given, much is required."
This sums up the responsibility of leadership.
Babas, we honor you with this product line as we continue this awesome
charge to you of governing our community with the intellect, integrity
and ingenuity that history has shown you the master. Defeated or triumphant,
we will continue to stick by your side because life is a process, a journey
we must travel together.
